About

VIVE PAWSITIVE is a music-wellness pet adoption festival that celebrates the unconditional love between humans and pets with the intention of creating awareness about the positive health benefits of living with a pet. The goal is to use positive music as a catalyst to transform Dallas Animal Services into a no-kill shelter.

The event is presented by cause-oriented music ensemble NOVA PANGEA in collaboration with Dallas Animal Services and Fretz Park Branch Library.

Nova Pangea was founded by Uriel Vazquez and Carmina Murillo. The band advocates for living in harmony with animals and nature. This is the motivation behind “Vive Pawsitive” which aims to inspire people through their music to give a second chance to an animal in need by adopting one from the Dallas Animal Services shelter.

The name of the festival is a combination of three words: “Vive” (Live in Spanish), “Paw” and “Positive.” The festival’s slogan “Adopt a Pet and Live in Harmony” is the result of the experience Uriel and Carmina have by adopting and living with their dogs: Gigi, Nina, and (recently adopted) Nova. They have taught them to appreciate the values of unconditional love, loyalty, empathy, and living in the moment, which were turned into the values of the festival with the hope of encouraging everyone to embrace them into their lives.

The duo have used these values to write two original songs, “Como Tú” (Like You) and “The Service Dog Song” (in collaboration with Dr. Danielle Rose, who wrote the lyrics.) These songs promote responsible pet ownership and to acknowledge the life-changing impact service dogs have for people with disabilities.

Both Uriel and Carmina volunteer at Dallas Animal Services.

The “Vive Pawsitive” festival will include three events. All of them are free and dog friendly. Vive Pawsitive is supported in part by the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.

OUR GOAL

Vive Pawsitive is a music-artistic platform that aims to bring positive entertainment through our cause-oriented music. We want to educate our community, get them involved, and motivate them to take action to help animals in need through our artistic platform. We want to let people know that music and arts can be used as a catalyst for a positive change. We want to use our music to inspire people to adopt pets from Dallas Animal Services Shelter.

We envision growing this event/platform, replicating it, and improving it each year. In doing so, our community can embrace the festival slogan: "Adopt a Pet and Live in Harmony." This will enhance their lives by experiencing the benefits of sharing their lives with a pet, while helping Dallas Animal Services become a "No Kill" shelter. Ultimately, people will see that positive music can create a positive social impact that benefits our community, the environment, and animals that live in it.

GIgi

Our logo was inspired by our adorable rescue dog, Gigi. We estimate he lived about 13 years. We lost him in January 2022 and although we miss him deeply, his teachings are reflected in the four festival values: Unconditional Love, Loyalty, Empathy, and Living in the Moment.
