Meet the founders

BACKGROUND:

Uriel Vázquez and Carmina Murillo were both born in Mexico. They met as children, Uriel was six years old and Carmina just one. They lost touch in high school but reconnected in 2015. Their shared passion for music and its power to create positive change brought them back together. They married in 2016 and founded Nova Pangea. They advocate for animal rights and volunteer for Dallas Animal Services encouraging people to adopt pets in a responsible way.

    Carmina Murillo is not just a one-of-a-kind singer; she's also a professor in the IB program at Alcuin School.

    She was the founder and lead singer of "Hadas," a band dedicated to teaching Mexican children about environmental protection. She was founder and CEO of “Arte&Medio“ a local magazine that promoted the arts and culture of Coyoacán, (a cultural town) in Mexico, City.

    Carmina has performed as a back-up vocalist for award-winning Latin singers including José José, Amanda Miguel, and Diego Verdaguer. Her vocal style is influenced by Grammy-winning composers and vocal coaches such as Pedro Dabdoub, Ricardo Maza, Ignacio and Willy Gutiérrez, and Leonel García. Carmina sings in Spanish, French, Italian, and English.

    She is a private vocal instructor and she advocates for animal rights, and pet adoption. She is a volunteer at Dallas Animal Services.

    She studied Business Administration and has a double master’s degree in International Management (ULSA, Mexico/ICN, France).

    Uriel’s interest in music began at the age of seven. He learned to play guitar at school and organ/piano and drums at the Yamaha Academy of Mexico, where he also studied music composition. By 16, he was awarded 3rd place in the “Yamaha Electone Festival ’88" (International Composition Competition.) At thirteen, he would form his rock band “Sentido Contrario,” touring for a decade.

    After graduating from Universidad Intercontinental with a Bachelors Degree in Communication Sciences, he moved to the United States to start a career in advertising. With over 20 years of experience working for national clients, including U.S. Fortune 500 companies, he opened his own advertising boutique, “Alebrije Advertising,” in 2005. 

    Uriel is not only a remarkable musician but also an award-winning bilingual creative director who has been recognized for his work with ADDY’s, Telly Awards and Se Habla Español awards, including one Silver ADDY for his broadcast campaign for the Humane Society of Bexar County in 2004. Uriel also composed and produced music for Award-winning TV and Radio campaigns including JCPenney, Tecate Beer, McDonald’s, and Toyota. He is an advocate for animal rights and volunteers at Dallas Animal Services Shelter.

    Uriel Vázquez specializes in music for noble causes, drawing inspiration from his passion for supporting animal rights and pet adoption. He also volunteers at Dallas Animal Services.

    His music is known for its beautiful melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and inspiring messages. He has a unique ability to connect with his audience on an emotional level, leaving them feeling both moved and empowered.

nova pangea

is a cause-oriented band dedicated to creating positive music that makes a social impact. Our  band promotes awareness about environmental protection, animal rights, the human condition, and peace - all with a secular-humanist approach. We sing in multiple languages including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Hindi, Japanese, and English, NOVA PANGEA creates a unique world-music latin-rock-fusion sound that inspires listeners to embrace diversity and take action and get involved in the causes Nova Pangea promotes.

is to motivate people to get involved in artistic, environmental, and humanitarian efforts, improving mental health and fostering a connection with nature. Through Nova Pangea’s concerts and events, we aim to inspire a grassroots movement that unites musicians and artists in promoting harmony with the environment, animals, community, and positive change through our music.

history

Since its founding in 2016, Nova Pangea has orchestrated festivals and concerts designed to uplift the community and support causes related to disabilities, environment protections (recycling) and animal rights. Our band strives to foster a culture of inclusion and celebrate the beauty of diversity through every note and lyric we deliver.

como tú

"Como Tú" is a song we wrote to honor the life of our dear friend Gigi, who passed away in January of 2022. Gigi taught us how to live in harmony with each other. The title means "Like You" in English.
